Meet the Artist

Kareena Gandhi is a mixed media artist from Westfield, New Jersey that creates artwork to express shared human experiences that cannot be described with words alone. Her work straddles a variety of subject matter and media ranging from landscapes to abstract paintings to drawings of flowers and animals.

Kareena primarily creates works on paper and canvas using materials such as graphite, colored pencil, marker, acrylic and oil. Her creative application of collage materials adds another dimension to her art that truly brings it to life off of the page. While common themes evolve throughout her artistic practice, each of Kareena’s works has its own unique story. She finds inspiration from her travels, time spent in nature, social movements and her daily life where she seeks to find beauty in the mundane.

Kareena received her Bachelor of Arts from Skidmore College in 2025 where she majored in Studio Art and Psychology. She is currently attending Columbia School of Social Work where she is expected to graduate with her Master of Social Work in 2027. Her goal is to combine traditional therapeutic interventions with the creative arts to help children and adolescents navigate the struggles of growing up in a complex, ever-changing world.

In addition to creating art, Kareena works as an art teacher at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and offers in-home art lessons to local families. She is passionate about using education and creativity to fight for a world in which all people, animals, plants and land are treated with love, kindness and respect.
